Ajay Devgn is on a roll. After signing Luv Ranjan’s upcoming production De De Pyaar De with Tabu and Rakul Preet and also teaming up with Ranbir Kapoor in his yet-untitled directorial which is slated to roll next year, Ajay is looking forward to collaborating once again with the Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety director on another project. However, as reported by a leading daily the duo is gearing up to produce a film that will be directed by acclaimed director Hansal Mehta.
A source told the leading daily, “It’s an out-and-out comedy that the trio has been discussing for a while now and have locked the initial formalities. The cast is in the process of being finalized even as Hansal has got busy with prep. The film is expected to roll by the year-end.” Ajay has been trying to scale up production under his banner. He is also awaiting the release of his film Helicopter Eela that stars his wife Kajol and is directed by Pradeep Sarkar.
The actor has also been working towards building a chain of single screens across India and has bought many theatres in Uttar Pradesh and redeveloping them and has his hands full at the moment. He also has Marathi filmmaker Om Raut’s Bollywood debut Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior in the works, and Indra Kumar’s multi-starrer comedy Total Dhammal which also features Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaffrey. Ajay will also be playing the role of Indian football coach Syed Abdul Rahim in a biopic, as well as the role of modern age Chanakya in Neeraj Pandey’s film.
On the other hand, Hansal is gearing up for his fifth collaboration with his favourite leading man Rajkummar Rao. The film is tentatively titled Swagat Hain, the addresses issues like freedom of expression, hypocrisy and exploitation of women in the workplace and at home.
