Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De release postponed to avoid clash with Total Dhamaal; to hit screens on May 17

The release of Ajay Devgn’s romantic comedy De De Pyaar De has been postponed in order to avoid a subsequent clash at the box office with his upcoming film Total Dhamaal, a leading daily reports. De De Pyaar De was scheduled to release on March 15 and has now been pushed to May 17 as Total Dhamaal is releasing on February 22.

Sources told the daily that team De De Pyaar De decided upon the new release date for the film as no major movie is slated to hit the screens on that particular Friday. “It is not good for business to have two films featuring the same actor release within a span of 20 days. With the earlier date, there would have been an overlap in marketing campaigns,” a source was quoted as saying by the daily.

Bhushan Kumar, who has produced De De Pyaar De with Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, confirmed the news to the daily and said, “DDPD is a commercial entertainer and deserves a good release date and we don’t think Total Dhamaal and our film should release within 15-20 days of each other. May 17 is a good date.”

De De Pyaar De marks Akiv Ali’s debut as a director. Akiv has worked with Luv Ranjan as an editor on the Pyaar Ka Punchnama series, Akaash Vani and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.
