I don’t want to be in a hurry but give it the respect it deserves: Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Sahir Ludhianvi's and Amrita Pritam's biopic

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is currently on a high having bagged the Best Director trophy at Zee Cine Awards 2019 last night and nominated for all the forthcoming awards as well. He has also managed to pull a casting coup of sorts by getting Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt to star in his next directorial Inshallah. Bhansali is also looking forward to expanding his production house and is backing several projects simultaneously with young actors and directors on diverse projects.

Two of the most interesting projects that he has in the pipeline are one on the Pulwama Air Strikes and another is the biopic on Urdu poet and lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi and author Amrita Pritam. During a recent interview given to a leading tabloid, Bhansali was asked whether his plan to make the biopic on Ludhianvi is still on or not, to which he replied, “I’ll make it happen. Sahir saab was one of our most talented poet lyricists, his verses are still inspiring. To bring them back through his love story will be beautiful but also a huge responsibility. It’s a difficult film for the writer-director (Jasmeet Reen) too so I don’t want to be in a hurry but give it the darza it deserves.”

Speculations are rife that Bhansali is planning to rope in his earlier muse Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to play the role of Amrita Pritam and Abhishek Bachchan in the role of Ludhianvi. Well, the news hasn’t been confirmed yet but it might turn out to be true as Abhishek and Aishwarya are looking for a suitable script to reunite onscreen once again.
