Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a director par excellence who has worked with several top-notch actors. In fact, several of them owe their star status to his films which gave them breakthrough roles of their career. He has also managed to forge good relationships with all his stars repeating them in several of his films.
Talking to a leading tabloid in a recent interview, Bhansali spoke about his forthcoming ventures and his dream projects which are in the pipeline. One such film is the biopic on notorious mafia queen Gangubai Kothewali. Priyanka Chopra is rumoured to star in the titular role. During the interview, Bhansali was asked about the biopic and his plans to collaborate with PeeCee on the film since she had said on Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan that she is doing a film with the director. To this, Bhansali said, “I love the story, it’s been with me for long and I’m keen to make the film. Priyanka and I are in talks.”

Gangubai ran a chain of brothels in Bombay in the 1950s and is believed to have complained to then Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru about the problems her trade and her workers faced in the city. Currently, Bhansali has made everyone sit up in excitement as he has managed to get Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt on board for his next directorial Inshallah. However, at the same time, he is expanding his production house and coming up with several lucrative projects.
