Shah Rukh Khan to star in the Hindi remake of South director Atlee Kumar’s Mersal?

Director Atlee Kumar is keen on collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan and is discussing two films with him, a leading daily reports. Atlee wants SRK to feature in a cameo in his next Tamil film Thalapathy 63 – it isn’t a special appearance but an important role, sources said. Moreover, Atlee is interested in making the Hindi version of his Tamil film Mersal with SRK playing the lead role.

“Atlee has been in touch with Shah Rukh for the last few months. He has spoken to the actor about a cameo in his next Tamil film Thalapathy 63, which stars Vijay and Nayanthara. It’s not a special appearance. SRK is expected to have an important role,” a source was quoted as saying by the daily.

Atlee, in fact, had discussed the idea of Mersal with SRK during his meeting for Thalapathy 63. If sources are to be believed, SRK has shown adequate interest in the remake of Mersal as well. The actor, though, hasn’t finalized his decision.

“While meeting SRK for Thalapathy 63, Atlee also bounced off the idea of a possible Hindi remake of Mersal. Incidentally, that film, too, featured Vijay. Shah Rukh has shown an interest in the project. He has asked the director to develop it further, keeping the pan-India audience in mind. But he is yet to take a call on the same,” the source added.

Speculation surrounding their film together also surfaced after Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee were photographed together during the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings at MA Chidambaram International Cricket Stadium recently.

The report, meanwhile, also states that SRK is currently reading a few scripts “but he wants to take his time to figure which film he wants to do next.”

No confirmation has been provided on this report so far by either SRK or Atlee Kumar.

Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Zero.
