Katrina Kaif to star with Amitabh Bachchan in Vikas Bahl's father-daughter film tentatively titled 'Deadly'?

Katrina Kaif is a bona fide star. Be it acing difficult dance moves to wowing us with intense character portrayal, the actress has done it all. Now, as she awaits the release of her upcoming film Sooryavanshi directed by Rohit Shetty and co-starring Akshay Kumar, the 36-year-old star, if reports are to be believed, has given a positive nod to Vikas Bahl's next. According to a report of a leading daily, Katrina will lead from the forefront in Vikas' project tentatively titled Deadly. Sources close to the development told the daily that the film will tell the tale of a father and daughter with the premise centered around a funeral. Deadly is said to be the story of self-discovery with dashes of humour and will be Vikas' next after the success of Super 30 starring Hrithik Roshan.

“The film is tentatively titled Deadly as the story is centred around a funeral. Katrina loved the basic premise, which essentially traces the protagonist’s journey of self-discovery with humourous undertones, and gave an instant go-ahead to Vikas,” the source told.

The source further added that Amitabh Bachchan has been approached for the role of the father. Katrina, Vikas and Amitabh have reportedly discussed the film and the latter is shown his interest but is yet to sign on the dotted lines. “Vikas and Katrina have discussed the central of the father with Amitabh Bachchan who has shown a keen interest in doing the film. However, he is yet to sign on the dotted line,” the source added. The report also stated that all formalities regarding the production and casting were to be finalised this month, but due to Coronavirus shutdown, there is a delay.

The source also informed that Deadly was scheduled to go on floors in May, but the Coronavirus outbreak has halted the recce. The makers are said to be waiting for the matter to settle down before scouting for locations. “It was supposed to kick off in May, but following the coronavirus scare across the world, the makers are waiting for things to settle down before heading for a recce,” the source said.

Talking about Katrina, the source told that she is willing to explore new genres and push the envelope. “She is looking to push the envelope and explore new genres in this phase of her career which, in a way, is a journey of self- discovery too,” the source concluded.
