Javed Akhtar has reacted to the Central government's decision to allow the liquor shops to operate amid the COVID-19 lockdown. Yesterday, the government announced the availabilities in the green, orange, and red zones of India after which they announced that liquor shops will operate even during the lockdown which is extended till May 18, 2020.
Javed expressed his disappointment on the same and tweeted, “Opening liquor shops during the lock down will only bring disastrous results . In any case according to all the surveys nowadays domestic Violence has increased to a large extent .liquor will make these days even more dangerous of for women and children."

The religious places, shopping malls, entertainment parks, educational institutions, cinema halls, bars, and auditoriums will, however, remain shut under the third phase of the COVID-19 lockdown "irrespective of the zones" they are situated in.
Meanwhile, the number of COVID19 cases in India have crossed 37,000.
