PeepingMoon Exclusive: Raaj Shaandilyaa to reunite with Nushrratt Bharuccha for his first production venture?

Dream Girl director Raaj Shaandilyaa is turning producer! Peepingmoon.com has learned that the filmmaker is soon launching his production company 'ThinkInk Picturez' in partnership with Kolkata-based businessman Vimal K Lahoti. Born out of a passion to create the quality content in films, TV, and web medium, Shaandilyaa aims to create stories that can appeal both to mass and targeted audiences, through his banner. He has already started working on his first production and has approached his Dream Girl heroine  Nushrratt Bharuccha to play the lead.

"Raaj Shaandilya is working on a range of concepts for his production company and the first one that he has okayed is a female-led slice-of-life drama, titled Little Umbrella. Mary Kom (2014) and Sarbjit (2016) fame Omung Kumar will be directing this realistic film with a social message. Shaandilyaa has approached Nushrratt and she has also shown her interest in Raaj and Omung's combination but is yet to sign on the dotted line. She is said to be waiting for the script before giving her final nod," a source close to the project informed us.

The Raaj Shaandilyaa first production venture will be Nushrratt's second solo lead film after Vishal Furia's next horror drama, Chhori that deftly weaves a tale of terror that addresses social evils. An official remake of 2017 Marathi hit, Lapachhapi, the film will see her playing the role of a pregnant woman. The actress has reportedly also taken a pay cut for this film that goes on floors next month with all the safety guidelines at the place. Nushrratt is expected to shoot for Shaandilyaa's Little Umbrella after completing her horror journey early next year. She is also said to be in talks for the remake of Amala Paul thriller Aadai but again hasn't signed it yet.

Raaj Shaandilyaa, meanwhile, is also working on his next directorial. He is believed to be developing two scripts— an entertaining massy commercial film with a social message, and a comedy-drama that revolves around a stand-up comedian. The director had approached Varun Dhawan for the latter but things didn't move forward after the sudden lockdown. Shaandilyaa is now believed to have put that project on hold for the time being!
