Shakuntala Devi E-Promotions: Gorgeous drapes to fusion dresses, Vidya Balan is ‘Vocal for Local’ while being absolutely chic!

With theatrical films making their way to OTT platforms, one can surely say that even the pandemic of COVID-19 cannot halt things in the B-town industry. Well, if we notice, fashion circuit wasn’t lagging either. Testimony to this fact is Vidya Balan’s fun-filled and fashion-forward style file during her film Shakuntala Devi’s E-promotions!

Oh, yes, adding a stylish twist to the Zoom interviews, Vidya played dress up at home and went high on fashion while being #VocalForLocal. From surreal drapes to chic fusion dresses she donned them all with confidence, panache and utmost style. Opting for home-grown, sustainable labels, Balan showed us that classic can never be out of style!

THE SURREAL SAREE NAARI

Sarees have been Balan’s one of the staple wardrobe essentials and those who diligently follow this diva, must be aware of this fact. Although, this time ditching the regular course, Vidya went bold on the colours, prints and ravishing borders.

CLASSIC COTTONS

These Coimbatore cotton sarees definitely brought on board a lot of subtlety, sophistication and class.  

They don’t call them classics for nothing!

This Kala Cotton drape from Label Sourav Das featured stripes and vouched for an absolute classic look. Sometimes, less is more, isn’t it?

DOUBLE TROUBLE

This upcycled cotton drape blends two elements to make a perfect combination indeed. The checkered base complemented the black and gold combo and the sweetheart neckline blouse surely added its own charm to the look. Opting for a subtle glam with an earthy brown pout, winged eyes and a tied hairdo, she let her fusion drape do the talking!

MONOCHROME MUSING

This mul mul monochrome number from Shuffling Suitcases, teamed up with a striped boat neck blouse was an indeed a fun play on your regular b/w combination. The neatly tied pulled back ponytail and red lips scored some subtlety points. That butterfly ring from Moha by Geetanjali definitely had our attention!

SCREAMING COLOURS

This red hot printed saree from Radhika Agarwal Studio worked wonders on our beaut. This digitally printed silk saree was teamed up with statement making golden hoops along with a neutral glam and a side parted bun. Damn!

PASTEL GLORY

This pastel linen saree from label Anavila featuring block prints surely got our summer ethnic wardrobe sorted way in advance! Kohl-rimmed eyes, pink lips and a miniscule bindi teamed up with a sleek low bun added on to the serenity of her looks.

The soothing colour palatte, the contrasting floral prints, everything about this Raw Mango drape screams subtlety.

TIE DYES

Mathematics can be fun (okay, a bit) but when teamed up with a saree, nothing like it! This calculation-printed tie dye saree from label Utkalamrita surely promotes film like none other!

This tangy fusion saree with a tie dye twist is something that every millennial fashionista could relate to. The minimal yet on-point makeup enhanced her look furthermore.

VINTAGE GLORY

This violet Chanderi drape from label Deep Thee blended classic with heritage and made for a regal treat to our eyes.  Minimal jewels from Razwada Jewels, a radiant glam and a gajra adorned bun rounded off her ethnic look.

GOOD OL SILKS

Balan paired her classic black & golden tussar dupion silk drape from Chanchal with statement earrings from Tanvi Silver studio to let her sexy saree do all the talking! Subtle glam with earthy brown put and side parted sleek bun gave justice to her beauty.

JAZZ THINGS UP

Vidya surely jazzed things up with her indo-westerns and fusion dresses and gave us some looks that could be archived by the millennial fashionistas who wish to go the classic way!

This Urvashi Kaur dhoti dress blended comfort with fashion without losing its ethnic touch.

PRINTS AND POLKAS FT SUNSHINE HUES

Balan took the sustainable route and sported a popping yellow outfit from label Ayush Kejriwal that featured bold floral prints. She kept her glam minimal and paired her number with statement yellow tops and a pair of pointy heels.

Vidya tuned in the retro feels with this popping polka dress from Rouka. Her asymmetrical co-ords were teamed up with a pair of statement danglers. Centre parted hairdo and bold lips added on to the ‘90s vibe

EASY BREEZY

This Payal Pratap flowy gown featured a statement belt and came with billowy sleeves. Opting for just a pair of earrings and a minimal glam, she let her breezy number do all the talking.

These breezy Rivaaj outfits featuring hand-painted block prints brought back the summer vibes in monsoon.

CHIC MODE- ON!

Vidya put on a show in this bright blue dress from Shuffling Suitcases that featured a plunging neckline and was furthermore layered with an oversized jacket. With poker-straight tresses and natural glam, she rounded off her look.

For one of the e-promotional activities, Vidya opted for a fuss-free floral number from label Pramaa which she layered with a pure cotton muslin jacket. Tassled danglers and a pulled back neat hairdo added the subtlety element to her look while jthose bold lips turned on the drama.

BOSS LADY

 Vidya put together a bossy look by teaming up a printed blazer with a pair of pleated palazzo. She rounded off her look with an understated glam and minimal accessories.

ETHNIC DIVINITY
