I'm not ready to share screen space with my mother: Renee Sen on working with mom Sushmita Sen

Sushmita Sen’s elder daughter Renee Sen is all set to make her Bollywood debut in Suttabaazi, where she plays a smoker who needs to keep it a secret from her parents during the coronavirus induced lockdown. In an exclusive and probably one of her first interviews, Renee spoke at length about her film and her exemplary mother with PeepingMoon.com.

When asked whether she would like to work with Sushmita, Renee said, “Talking about sharing screen space with Sushmita, Renee said, “No, I am not ready for that. She is too good. I have so much to learn, so much to do before I can be in the same frame with her. I am not ready yet.”

She further spoke about how she approached Sushmita about Suttabaazi and her decision to take up acting. Renee said, “With my mother there is no spoon feeding, you need to have a game plan to present her. If I wanted to learn acting I would have to present a list of acting schools and a plan on how to go about it, how to balance studies with projects. Thankfully with Suttabaazi, I had the script in hand. She told me ‘If you want to do it then go for it’. We read the script together.”

Renee further said that she kept an open mind about acting and had no particular genre picked for her debut film. Talking about social media and fan following, she said that she wanted to ‘earn it’. She further revealed that she would have loved to do Sushmita’s role in her web series Aarya and named Main Hoon Na as the film she would love to have starred in.
