Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi lit up the internet with the trailer of their upcoming film Mimi which deals with surrogacy and the impending questions society subjects the surrogate mother to. In an exclusive interview with PeepingMoon.com, Kriti, Pankaj, producer Dinesh Vijan and director Laxman Utekar speak about the film’s subject and more.
Kriti shares the challenge she faced to shed her ultra-glam avatar and essay the role of a surrogate mother, complete with undergoing body transformation by gaining 15 kgs for the role and imbibing the emotions of motherhood. She also spoke about her first solo-lead film in Mimi that rests entirely on her able shoulders.
On the other hand, Pankaj spoke about the film’s mature storyline where the main leads do not have a romantic relationship with each other. He also spoke about the actor’s job to not weep on screen but emote in a way that it moves the audience to tears. The acclaimed actor also shed light on using religion-based humour in the film but making sure they do not hurt sentiments and do not fall under the category of slapstick comedy.
On the other hand, director Laxman explains why the film despite being the remake of an old Marathi hit is still relevant in today’s changing times and Vijan explains the thought behind creating an emo-universe with Mimi and reaching out to a wider audience with a digital release.
