The first thing many women told me was 'when we go back to work, we've to wear a bra': Shefali Shah on the bra unclasping scene in 'Happy Birthday Mummy JI'

An actor par excellence, Shefali Shah needs no introduction. A career spanning nearly three decades, the super-talented performer has donned the hat of a director with her recently released short film, Happy Birthday Mummy Ji. Shefali speaks to PeepingMoon.com about how she conceptualized the film in lockdown, a thought-out call to play the solo character in the entire film, efforts to not make it like a showreel and her character Suchi - whose journey to self-discovery and liberation is something she resonates with, personally.

The actress also shed light on the integral bra unclasping scene, the misinterpretation of the film's ending, breaking down the bathtub and hand shower scene and its importance of self-love. Shefali disassociated her character Suchi's arch from Dil Dhadakne Do's Neelam Mehra, her husband director-producer Vipul Shah's reaction to her maiden venture, and the Bollywood film she is waiting to direct in near future!
