In the Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss OTT, Raqesh Bapat came under scrutiny not only for his changing attitude towards Shamita Shetty but also his ‘sexist’ remarks in a task and got slammed by host Karan Johar on the show. Karan rebuked Raqesh for his 'men are stronger than women' logic. KJo called out the latter for his remark on women being physically incapable and referred to Shamita’s injury during the task and said, “We are living in a woke world where you don't say things like this."
He further said, “Let me tell you, my dear, if push comes to shove and I hope it never does, Shamita (Shetty) can kick your a** and Neha (Bhasin) can kick your a**. And Divya (Agarwal) can kick everybody’s a**.” However, Raqesh did not take this lying down and clarified by saying, “I do reflect on it and my intention was not that, honestly. I know what strength of a woman is. I have grown-up in a house with women around."
Karan’s remark was seconded by Moosa Jattana as she told Raqesh that 'strength doesn't come from gender'. However, Shamita did not mind the remark and defended Raqesh saying that his comment came out differently and his intentions were not wrong. She said, “But I understand maybe inka intention kuch aur tha. Galat tareeke se nikla inke mooh se (maybe his intention was something else and it came out wrong.”
However, Karan did not let the matter die down and said that he does not want to avoid this remark as it would make him a part of cancel culture. He shared that even when he is told that he is not man enough, he finds it offensive. He said, “I have had men tell me, ‘Oh, you are not man enough’, and I want to tell you that these things are hurtful. As hurtful to a man as it is to a woman. But I don’t want to cancel those who say it.”
Karan called Raqesh an escapist and said, “Raqesh ko samajhna mushkil hi nahi namumkin hai." He pulled up Shamita as well and asked her whether her heart was broken because of Raqesh’s behaviour. She told KJo that Raqesh just locks her out and said, “If he feels that he doesn't want to hurt me and wants to stay away, then he is an escapist. I feel angry with myself, too."
