After becoming the fastest hit of the year, Golmaal Again is on a gold run at the box office. The film has garnered ₹120 crore plus at the worldwide box office in the first four days of its release, zooming past the 100 crore club.
Expressing his happiness, director Rohit Shetty said, "I am overjoyed that Golmaal Again has broken records along with spreading happiness, cheer and smiles during this Diwali. I am thankful to the audience for the success and the love they have shown to the 'Golmaal' series."
The film which releases a day after Diwali, October 20, stars an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Kemmu, and Tabu. Produced by Reliance Entertainment, Mangalmurti Films, and Rohit Shetty banner, Golmaal Again has brought the much-needed relief to the film industry.
Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar in which Zaira Wasim stars, is another surprise hit at the box office. The film that opened on Thursday with lukewarm audience reaction is cashing in on the good word of mouth.
The film's story revolves around Insia, a young Muslim girl, who aspires to become a singer but faces restrictions from her conservative father. She happens to cross paths with a musician (Aamir Khan), who becomes her mentor and helps her reach the sky.
The Adavit Chandan directorial film has touched the ₹35 crore plus mark and is still going strong. With superb performances from the Dangal girl Zaira and Meher Vij, Aamir has given a perfect platform to these faces, with himself taking a backseat.
With no major releases this weekend, these films seem to be on a superhit spree.
