Box Office: Stree wreaks havoc at ticket counters; Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se fails to impress

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao deserve a big round of applause as their new film Stree is performing exceptionally well at the box office. The collections of the Amar Kaushik-directed film has been increasing with every passing day since its release, as explained through figures tweeted by trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

On the third day of its release on Sunday, Stree earned Rs 13.57 crore – more than double of what it fared on its opening day. Stree’s first and second-day collections were Rs 6.82 crore and Rs 10.87 crore respectively. Business for Stree, thus, has only observed a significant rise while its current earnings stand at Rs 31.26 crore.

Taran, in his tweet, also said that the film is “wreaking havoc” at ticket counters and has been doing well at multiplexes as well as single screens. Based on a female ghost who exists in Chanderi town, Stree co-stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee.

On the other hand, Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, starring Dharmendra and his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, clashed with Stree at the box office on August 31 but hasn’t been witnessing a favourable response from audiences. Critics, in fact, haven’t approved of the film as well. Reports suggest that Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se has earned Rs 3.62 crore after two days since its release. Stree, thus, has exceeded far beyond the Navaniat Singh-directed film.

Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se is the third part in the franchise and also features Kriti Kharbanda. Salman Khan, Shatrughan Sinha and Sonakshi Sinha made special appearances in the film.
