Stree Box Office: Rajkummar-Shraddha starrer horror-comedy inching towards Rs 100 crore mark

Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Stree has surpassed all expectations and is doing an astounding business at the box office. The film directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Raj & DK of Go Goa Gone fame falls under the lesser explored genre of horror-comedy. Stree is having a golden run at the theatres and is inching towards crossing the Rs 100 crore mark soon. Will it be able to cross the milestone by the end of this week?

Stree also stars Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Banerjee. The three supporting actors along with the lead stars have walked away with acclaim and accolades for their performance in the film. The film after managing a solid opening has garnered Rs 60.39 crores till yesterday. Stree is expected to gather momentum in the weekend and should probably keep the cash registers ringing.

Irrespective of its lifetime business, Stree has been a lottery for its investors as the mid-budget film has already recovered a substantial chunk of investment from non-theatrical avenues while the theatrical business at the box office has been a sweet bonus for the producers. Producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films is definitely laughing all the way to the bank.

Stree has appealed to the audience as well as the critics as the film has received rave reviews and good rating from most reviewers. The film sustained its initial rush because of its strong content and an amazing performance from the star cast.

After the stupendous success, the filmmakers have announced a sequel to the film as well especially since Stree concludes with an "open-ending" and it was written as a franchise.

Stree 2 will start off from where Stree ended and will essentially highlight Shraddha's backstory.
