Abhishek Kapoor’s new film Kedarnath, starring Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput in the principal roles, has earned Rs 27.75 crore within three days of its release. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the figures saying that Kedarnath has been witnessing a substantial growth in its collections and fared well over the weekend as well.
On its opening day, Kedarnath earned Rs 7.25 crore while it fared Rs 9.75 crore on Saturday and Rs 10.75 crore on Sunday. The significant growth in the figures, hence, is proof of the fact that Kedarnath has been impressing audiences.

Kedarnath narrates the love story of a Muslim porter and a Hindu priest’s daughter, set in the backdrop of the catastrophic floods in 2013 in the Uttarakhand town. The film marked Sara’s debut in Bollywood while critics praised her performance in her debut film.

Kedarnath, however, has been banned in Uttarakhand after teerth purohits (priests) in Chardham objected to the plot of the movie alleging that it “hurts Hindu religious sentiments by promoting love jihad.”
The film released on December 7.
