Kalank starring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, and Kunal Kemmu was one of the most highly anticipated films of the year. The film released on the extended Easter weekend on Wednesday instead of Friday but has not exactly lit up the box office with lots of moolah. The film registered the year’s biggest opening but failed to keep the cash registers ringing and after the initial rush of the first day, the business dropped to almost 50% on a day 2 itself.
Over the weekend, Kalank’s box office was expected to grow but that did not materialize and the collections have been dismal. Kalank was doing fairly well in metros but the collections on Saturday declined and earned around Rs 11 crore. However, the film is doing well in the international circuit.

#Kalank is rejected... Has a lacklustre *extended* opening weekend... Will find it difficult to sustain on weekdays... Arrival of #AvengersEndgame [on Fri] will hit biz hard... Wed 21.60 cr, Thu 11.45 cr, Fri 11.60 cr, Sat 9.75 cr, Sun 11.63 cr. Total: 66.03 cr. India biz.

Karan Johar’s production Kalank has managed to cross Rs 62.50 crores and will probably continue to plummet further as the week starts. Also, it is going to face tough competition from Avengers: Endgame that is going to release on April 26. It will be interesting to see whether Kalank manages to hold its place at the theatres or fizzles out.
