Student of the Year 2 starring Tiger Shroff and debutantes Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria has opened on a good start, although the film could not become Tiger’s highest opening film with a day one collection of Rs 12.06 crores. The actor’s biggest opener remains Baaghi 2 that opened at a cool Rs 25 crore in 2018.
Student of the Year 2 is the second instalment of the 2012 Karan Johar directed film that launched the careers of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. SOTY 2 is directed by Punit Malhotra and is produced by KJo under his Dharma Productions banner. The film has received mixed reviews from the critics and has managed to put up a decent total on its first day. However, the weekend collection seems to be crucial.

Student of the Year 2 is the fifth highest opening Bollywood film after Kalank, Kesari, Gully Boy and Total Dhamaal. The highest opening of the year was also recorded by Dharma Productions film Kalank and Kesari with a cool Rs 21.60 crore and Rs 21.06 crore respectively.
