Punit Malhotra's Student of the Year 2, starring Tiger Shroff and debutants Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria, hit the silver screens on May 10. A sequel to the widely popular Student Of The Year, which had launched Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan in Bollywood, the film is bankrolled by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. After enjoying an opening collection of 12.06 crore on Friday, it enjoyed a steady collection of Rs 14.02 crore on day 2 at the domestic box-office. So, within two days of its release, SOTY 2 has crossed the Rs 20-crore mark as the total collection now stand at Rs 26.08 crore.
Sharing the day 2 collections of the film, trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “#StudentOfTheYear2 witnesses growth on Day 2, but lacks the appreciation for a solid jump... As per report in a trade portal, SOTY 2 has managed growth of over 20% in multiplex dominated circuits. The collections of the film are expected to go up on Sunday as well but it will be affected by the IPL final. Although the film is a franchise and enjoyed a solo release at the domestic box office, SOTY 2 faces competition from Hollywood films including Avengers: Endgame and Detective Pikachu.
