Box Office: Aladdin wins over the audience; PM Narendra Modi and India's Most Wanted struggle

Disney's live-action film Aladdin, starring Mena Massoud, Will Smith, Naomi Scott, Marwan Kenzari and Navid Negahban in the lead roles, is doing well not only at the global box-office but is raking in numbers in India as well. The film, which opened at the box office with a collection of Rs 4.15 crore, went on to collect Rs 2.25 crore on Thursday, taking total collections to Rs . On day 7, the collections of the film were similar to the first day collections of Godzilla 2. While there could be another drop on Friday, Aladdin should do well on Saturday and Sunday and is on target for a 40 crore nett plus total.

Behind Aladdin are Vivek Oberoi starrer PM Narendra Modi biopic and Arjun Kapoor starrer India's Most Wanted. PM Narendra Modi, the biopic on the Prime Minister of India, has turned out to be an under performer. After witnessing an opening day with Rs 2.35 crore, the film enjoyed a good hold on Monday, however, it could not maintain numbers over the weekdays and there was a further drop on Thursday. On day 7, the film minted Rs 1.10 crore, making it a poor first week with Rs 15.75 crore nett.

India's Most Wanted, on the other hand, started very poorly with Rs 1.85 crore and has practically capitulated by the end of its first week. After collecting around Rs 40 lakh nett at the domestic box-office, the first week collections are just Rs 10 crore nett and there will not be much coming post the first week.

At the domestic box-office, Aladdin is clearly leading in numbers as opposed to the two other films, which are on the brink of collapse.
