Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, hit the silver screens on the occasion of Eid, June 5. According to a trade portal, the film witnessed a good extended first week of Rs 172 crore nett, minting around Rs 5.25 crore on Thursday. This was because of an extended week of nine days and the initial draw of Salman's popularity and Eid. Although the film's collection on Thrusday could have been lower, however, the World Cup 2019 match on the day was rained out, which aided in the overall collections.
Now as the film enters its second week from today, it would be interesting to see if Salman's star power manages to pull the audience to the theatres. Interestingly Bharat, which released in 4700 screens across the country and more than 6000 screens worldwide, is the second highest-grossing Bollywood release of 2019. Currently, it is racing towards the Rs 200-crore milestone.
Expressing his gratitude towards the audience for loving his film, Salman shared a video clip on Twitter, in which he can be heard saying, "Thank you. Aisa reaction bohot kum milta hai aur bohot kum filmon ko milta hai. Bharat ko mila hai. Actually, aap logon ne aisa reaction mere previous filmon ko bhi diya hai, so thank you very much."
