Box Office Collection Day 15: Akshay Kumar’s ‘Mission Mangal’ does steady business, John Abraham’s ‘Batla House’ inches closer to Rs 100 crore mark

Akshay Kumar’s film Mission Mangal has emerged to be the biggest film of his career. The film has already crossed Rs 150 crore and is now inching closer to the lifetime business of 2.0 that also starred Rajinikanth besides Akshay. Mission Mangal has fetched a cool Rs 178.11 crore till now and is still looking to rake in more moolah at the box office even though Prabhas’ and Shraddha Kapoor’s Saaho releases tomorrow.

Mission Mangal is based on ISRO’s Mars Orbiter Mission and has a bevy of talented actresses who are headlining the film. The film stars Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen as well as Sharman Joshi. The film has also benefited from being declared tax free in Maharashtra which has boosted its ticket sales.

On the other hand, John Abraham’s Batla House has already become one of the most successful films of the actor. Made on a modest budget of Rs 47 crore the film has already fetched Rs 93 crore and should take over the Rs 100 crore mark by the weekend. The film could become John’s first solo film to enter the Rs 100 crore club.

In Batla House, John plays the role inspired by real-life hero DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, a recipient of Gallantry Award. The film also stars Mrunal Thakur and is directed by Nikkhil Advani. The film is based on the true encounter at Batla House, New Delhi.
