Directed by Jagan Shakti, Mission Mangal revolves around the story of India's Mangalyaan or the Mars Orbiter Mission. Starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Kirti Kulhari, Taapsee Pannu, Nithya Menen and H.G. Dattatreya in key roles, the film which hit theatres on August 15, has impressed the audience and critics alike apart from raking in moolah at the box-office. Now adding to the excitement, Mission Mangal has joined the coveted Rs 200 club in its fourth week.
Sharing the box office number on day 29 of the film's release, trade analyst Taran Adasrsh tweeted, "#MissionMangal benchmarks... Crossed 50 cr: Day 3 100 cr: Day 5 150 cr: Day 11 175 cr: Day 14 200 cr: Day 29 #India biz."

Interestingly, Mission Mangal has also become the highest grossing Independence Day release, surpassing the box office numbers of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Ek Tha Tiger. What's more? The film has turned out to be Fox Star Studios' third film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark after Sanju (Rs 342.53 crore) and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (Rs 210.16 crore).
Mission Mangal is currently enjoying a fantastic run at the ticket window despite the releases of Saaho and Chhichhore. Ayushmann Khurrana's Dream Girl, which has released today, may give competition to it on the box office. Work wise, Akshay has Housefull 4, Good News, Sooryavanshi, Bachchan Pandey, Laxmmi Bomb and Prithviraj in the pipeline.
