This Friday saw not one but three releases at the box office. With Sonam Kapoor’s The Zoya Factor, Sunny Deol’s son Karan Deol’s debut film Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, and Sanjay Dutt’s Prassthanam releasing on the same day, many thought that the audience would be spoiled for choice. However, it was not to be as all three of them ended up becoming big duds at the box office.
Although, neither of the three could make an impact at the box office but Sunny Deol’s directorial Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas that serves as a launchpad for his son Karan Deol pulled off a surprise victory over Sonam’s The Zoya Factor and Sanjay’s Prassthanam. Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas fetched Rs 4.5 crore in its first three days as reported by a trade website. It had garnered Rs 1.2 crore on Friday and showed marginal improvement on the weekends raking in Rs 1.55 crore and Rs 1.85 crore on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Besides Karan, the film also stars Sahher Bambba.
On the other hand, Prassthanam made just under Rs 3 crores in the first three days of its release. It fetched Rs 90 lakhs on Saturday and Rs 1.25 crore on Sunday. The film is produced by Sanjay under his production banner and also stars Manisha Koirala, Ali Fazal, Chunky Panday and Jackie Shroff besides Sanjay.
Sonam’s The Zoya Factor was the weakest link this Friday as it could not rake in the moolah. The film based on Anuja Chauhan’s novel of the same name collected Rs 2.25 crore in its first three days. It started with Rs 70 lakhs on Friday and Rs 80 lakhs on both Saturday and Sunday. The film also stars Dulquer Salmaan in the lead along with Sikander Kher, Angad Bedi and Sanjay Kapoor in pivotal roles.
