Akshay Kumar’s ‘Housefull 4’ powers past Rs. 100 crore milestone!

Overcoming bad reviews and hurtful feedback, Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 4 proved it is the Entertainer of The Year by crossing the Rs. 100 crore mark yesterday. The comedy entertainer by Sajid Nadiadwala and Fox Star Studios collected an estimated Rs. 24.04 crore on Tuesday, its fifth day of release, taking Housefull 4’s total box office figure to Rs. 111.82 crore. This is another high for Akshay who has been with the Housefull franchise since its start. The film witnessed another huge day at the box office yesterday after breaking records on its first Monday. It being Bhai Dooj and the Diwali spirit still high, multiplexes did not report any significant drop in business. This is Akshay’s third film in 2019 after Kesari and Mission Mangal to make the coveted 100 Crore Club milestone.

A delighted Akshay tweeted, “Thank you for loving us and laughing with us. It is because of your love we are where we are today. Thanks to all my fans and audiences who have poured unconditional love on #Housefull 4. Thank you for showing us that nothing beats hate more than love.”

And it is true, Housefull 4 was rejected with harsh reviews by the critics and sidetracked by a hateful word of mouth campaign by detractors of the popular comedy franchise. But the Farhad Samji directorial with its ensemble star cast of Kriti Sanon, Riteish Deshmukh, Kriti Kharbanda, Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde overcame all obstacles and a box office challenge by Rajkummar Rao’s Made In China and Taapsee Pannu’s and Bhumi Pednekar’s Saand Ki Aankh to prove everyone wrong and keep entertaining.
