Mudassar Aziz's Pati Patni Aur Woh is a remake of BR Chopra's 1978 hit of the same name. The film stars Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar, Ananya Panday and Aparshakti Khurana. The film collected Rs 9.10 crore at the box-office on day one, followed by Rs 12.33 crore on Saturday. Now on day three (Sunday), the film collected Rs 14.51 crore, taking the total first weekend collections to Rs 35.94 crore.
What's more? The film has emerged as Kartik's biggest three day opener, leaving behind his last film Luka Chhupi which collected Rs 32.13 crore in its opening weekend. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the numbers:
#PatiPatniAurWoh has a solid weekend... Day-wise growth - despite division of screen space [#Panipat] - is a plus and should ensure strong biz on weekdays... #KartikAaryan’s biggest 3-day opener... Fri 9.10 cr, Sat 12.33 cr, Sun 14.51 cr. Total: 35.94 cr. #India biz.

On the other hand, Oscar-nominated director Ashutosh Gowariker's latest release Panipat, a period drama that stars Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Kriti Sanon and Zeenat Aman, failed to impress the audience. It kicked off to a decent start as it garnered Rs 4.12 crore at the box office on its first day. Even though word-of-mouth was good for the film it did not mint a huge amount at the theatres. On Sunday, the film collected around Rs 7.5 crore, taking the total first weekend collection to Rs 17.50 crore.
Both the films released on December 6. But clearly, Pati Patni Aur Woh has left behind Panipat in the box office race.
