Saif Ali Khan’s and Alaya Furniturwala’s film Jawaani Jaaneman that release yesterday has opened to good numbers at the box office. The film already had a good buzz ever since its character posters and teaser released and now it looks like Jawaani Jaaneman has lived up to the hype. The film is not only appealing to the fans but to the critics as well. Jawaani Jaaneman also stars Tabu and is directed by Nitin Kakkar.
Jawaani Jaaneman collected Rs 3.24 crores on its first day making it Saif’ biggest box office opener in the past decade. While Saif is the crown prince of the rom-com genre on the big screen, the first-day collections of his solo shouldered films from the past have been surpassed by Jawaani Jaaneman’s business on day 1. In fact, shows are already running housefull for the first weekend, and it is just the beginning for the film’s victory march.
#JawaaniJaaneman does much better than several *solo* #SaifAliKhan movies released in the *recent past*... Biz witnessed an upward trend towards evening shows at metros... Needs to trend well over the weekend for a respectable total... Fri 3.24 cr. #India biz.

On the other hand, Ajay Devgn and Kajol starrer Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior continues to wreak havoc at the box office. The film also stars Saif and has managed to keep a stronghold at the theatres despite multiple film releases. It has already garnered Rs 240.64 crores and is looking to collect more during the weekend.
The film’s massive collection has come from Maharashtra and even on Week 4, it is doing a roaring business. The film is directed by Om Raut and tells the story of Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare played by Ajay.
#Tanhaji continues its dominance, despite multiple films in the marketplace... Will fly high during the weekend, yet again... #Maharashtra is stupendous, contributing a massive chunk to the overall earnings... [Week 4] Fri 2.77 cr. Total: 240.64 cr. #India biz.

Kangana Ranaut’s Panga is not faring too well at the box office even though the film is aimed at being a family entertainer. The film received rave reviews from the critics and Kangana’s impeccable performance was hailed by one-and-all. However, the Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari directed film has failed to garner a lot of moolah at the box office.
#Panga is underwhelming in Week 1... Unable to score beyond metros, despite family-friendly theme... Miraculous growth in Weekend 2 essential... Fri 2.70 cr, Sat 5.61 cr, Sun 6.60 cr, Mon 1.65 cr, Tue 1.65 cr, Wed 1.62 cr, Thu 1.53 cr. Total: 21.36 cr. #India biz.
