Taapsee Pannu-starrer Thappad, directed by Anubhav Sinha, saw a low-key opening of Rs 3.07 crore. By the end of its first weekend, the collections of the film were Rs 14.66 crore in total. The following Monday and Tuesday, the film displayed a steady run however, on Wednesday, Thappad witnessed a drop as it collected a mere Rs 2.01 crore. The total collections at the end of its sicth day at the box office are now Rs 21.14 crore.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the numbers, "#Thappad Fri 3.07 cr, Sat 5.05 cr, Sun 6.54 cr, Mon 2.26 cr, Tue 2.21 cr, Wed 2.01 cr. Total: 21.14 cr. #India biz." According to a trade portal, "It is a normal drop for Wednesday and actually maybe better than normal for a Wednesday but the problem is that the film cannot really afford to have any drops."

On the other hand, Ayushmann Khurrana's Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, a gay rom-com, managed a first-week haul of Rs 44.84 crore. Now in its second week, the film collected Rs 1.01 crore on Wednesday, taking the total collections to Rs 57.99 crore.

The film is slowly inching Rs 60 crore mark at the box office.
