BellBottom Day 4 Box Office Report: Akshay Kumar's espionage thriller gets Raksha Bandhan advantage

Donning bell-bottoms and carrying the retro swag, Akshay Kumar became the first big superstar of Bollywood to take the initiative of reviving theatres right after the devastating second wave of COVID-19. He brought to theatres an espionage thriller titled BellBottom. The Ranjit M Tewari film, based on a true event, has been quite successful in drawing the audience back to cinema halls. Not to forget, the film is performing well, despite theatres being shut in key pockets like Maharashtra. 

According to an entertainment portal, Akshay's BellBottom got a 35% jump on Sunday alone and benefiting from Raksha Bandhan festival. The family audience seems to have stepped out to experience the thrill and magic of cinema like never before. Due to this, the espionage thriller minted approximately Rs. 4.30 crore. The buzz has it that on Sunday, BellBottom became the first Hindi film to have recorded the biggest single-day collection amid the pandemic.

BellBottom release in theatres on August 19 and reportedly collected Rs. 2.75 crores. Another Rs. 2.75 crores were added on Friday. BellBottom was expected to have minted Rs. 3.25 crore on Saturday. Due to Raksha Bandhan, the film's box office collection got pushed to Rs. 12.65 crores.

Based on hijackings of Indian aircrafts in the 1980s, BellBottom also stars Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi, Lara Dutta, Adil Hussain, Zain Khan Durrani, Denzil Smith, Dolly Ahluwalia and Sunit Tandon in important roles.
