Liger Box-Office Day 2: Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday's mass-entertainer off to a decent start

All eyes were on Bollywood's newest entrant Vijay Deverakonda as he geared up to make his big debut in Dharma Productions' Liger. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the film stars the nation's heartthrob Vijay along with Ananya Panday, Vish, Mike Tyson, Ramya Krishnan and Ronit Roy. While Liger's name and subject both sounded fascinating, the film did not manage to get a kickass start at the box office.

After earning 1.25 cr through Thursday's preview shows, the film had an opening of 4.50 crores in the Hindi version. Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared two-day collections of the Hindi version of Liger. He tweeted on Saturday, “#Liger opens to mixed response on Day 1... Good/ fair in mass pockets, dull/ordinary at metros/multiplexes... Needs to improve its performance on Sat and Sun... Thu [preview shows] 1.25 cr, Fri  4.50 cr. Total:  5.75 cr. #India biz. Note: #Hindi version.”

It was released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. The film is backed by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur's banner Puri Connects and Karan Johar-led Dharma Productions.
