Karan Johar-backed Mr. And Mrs. Mahi has released on theatres amid much anticipation. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor, the film is directed by Sharan Sharma, who makes his big-screen directorial debut after the critical success of Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl on Netflix. After a dry spell at the box office, this sweet love story is reviving theatres with its magic. 

Mr. And Mrs. Mahi released globally in theatres yesterday. Surpassing expectations, the film's advance booking touched 2.5 lacs. Hitting a clean 'sixer' on the first day, the romantic drama revolving around cricket, minted Rs. 6.85 crores. Mr. And Mrs. Mahi is set to grow more over the weekend as the film enjoys a solo release. 

Mr. And Mrs. Mahi has been targetted towards the family audience and youth. Indeed, it has reached the target audience due to the right amount of buzz around the film. Over the weekend, the film will scale up owing to a strong word of mouth. 

Rajkummar, who has been associated with critically acclaim films, saw his biggest opening with Mr. And Mrs. Mahi. On the other hand, it is Janhvi's second highest-grossing film in her brief career. On Friday, cinemas across the country were running at 75-80% occupancy levels and more than 200 shows were 'Housefull'.

Mr. And Mrs. Mahi is about Mahendra Agarwal (Rajkummar Rao) and Mahima (Janhvi Kapoor). They have a lot in common. Beyond their names, the factor that binds them together is cricket. Mahendra and Mahima are under pressure to follow the path guided by their parents. This pushes them away from their goals. Mahendra recognises Mahima’s talent and volunteers to quit his family business and coach his wife.

Rajkummar and Janhvi have reunited for Mr. And Mrs. Mahi after Roohi in 2021. The horror-comedy didn't perform well at the box office.
