Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna starrer 'Chhaava', directed by Laxman Utekar, has done great business at the box office. The film got a great opening on 14 February and then saw a steady increase in its collection in the next two days. The film's earnings at the Indian box office have already crossed the 100 crore mark in the first weekend and the film is close to recovering its budget.
The film opened with a great opening collection of 33.1 crore on Friday 14 February. On Saturday, the film's collection increased by 19.35% and 'Chhaava' earned 39.3 crore. But history was made on Sunday when the film grossed 121.43 crores. The Sunday collection saw a jump of 30% and the film grossed 49.03 crores.
'Chhaava' has broken many records at the box office. It has become Vicky Kaushal's highest opening weekend grosser. Also, this is Vicky's first film to cross the 100 crore mark in a single weekend. 'Chhaava' has broken the records of many big films in terms of opening weekend collections, including 'Fighter' (115 crores), 'Padmaavat' (114 crores), 'Kalki 2898 AD' (112.15 crores), 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' (110.20 crores) and 'Dangal' (107 crores). Talking about Salman Khan's films, 'Chhaava' has also broken the records of 'Tiger Zinda Hai' (114 crores), 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' (102 crores), 'Bodyguard' (88 crores), 'Kick' (83 crores) and 'Ek Tha Tiger' (100 crores).
The budget of the film is around 130 crores and now it just needs to go one more step ahead to recover its cost. It is a historical drama film based on the story of Sambhaji Maharaj, who was the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The great response the film received in the theatres proves that the audience has given it a lot of love.
