It's Shahid Kapoor's turn now. After Deepika Padukone doing khamma-ghani and walking in and as Padmavati, her husband in the film, Shahid's look as Maharawal Ratan Singh has been revealed in the second set of posters of the film today.
Despite the speculations that Sasha will be seen in a royal Rajput King avatar, decked in ornaments and couture attires, his appearance as a warrior Maharaja with that intense look reminded us of a Sanjay Leela Bhansali's hero, the one who faces it all for love! Though what made it stand out was that prominent battle scar on Kapoor's face and the battlefield backdrop, telling a story in itself.
Gobsmacking!
The 36-year-old actor, who looks fierce as King of Chittor in the posters, had revealed in a past interview about his look. "When you are playing a King, you need to have a certain personality. At that time, the people used to not be very skinny and lean, so you need to have a manly personality. Basically for that, and to carry those outfits also, Sanjay sir wants me to be a little muscular and a little full. But I will be gaining weight in terms of muscle and not in terms of fat. This is because I am playing the character of a warrior. The Rajput kings had very strong personalities.”
Last Monday, Deepika’s posters of Padmavati were released in which she adorned a royal Rajasthani lehenga and heavy original gold jewellery. Her unibrow was hard to miss, which soon led to a heated Twitter discussion.
With only Ranveer Singh's posters left in the line, SLB's is surely on track to take our breath away with these magnificent larger-than-life posters. The film is slated to hit the theaters on December 1 and is jointly produced by Bhansali Productions and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
