And here's Karan Johar's mega announcement. He is teaming up with the actor-with-a-Midas-touch, Akshay Kumar, in a film titled Kesari. Based on 'The Battle of Saragarhi', the film has been news since its inception.
Earlier this year, KJo, Salman Khan, and Akshay had announced their major collaboration, a film starring Akshay in the lead role, and to be co-produced by Salman and Karan's Dharma Productions. However, Salman had rubbished the rumours back then and maintained that he is still bankrolling Kumar's film.
Kesari will be helmed by Anurag Singh, known for his National award Winning Punjabi film, Punjab 1984. The film has already locked Holi 2019 as its release date.
The Battle of Saragarhi was fought on 12 September 1897 between Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and Pashtun Orakzai tribesmen. It occurred in the North-West Frontier Province. The British Indian contingent led by Havildar Ishar Singh chose to fight to the death, in what is considered as one of the history's greatest.
An excited Karan took to Twitter and posted, "
Extremely excited to see this exceptional and brave story unfold!!! @akshaykumar #KESARI #holi2019", to which Akshay responded, "A film I'm extremely excited about personally and emotionally... #Kesari releasing Holi 2019."

Akshay and Karan have earlier joined hands for films like Brothers. The duo shares a great equation off-screen, with Akki's wife Twinkle being KJo's childhood BFF.
Akshay, who has become the face of films based on National issues, like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Rustom, will be now seen as a brave Sikh soldier, fighting for the pride of his country.
For the uninitiated, Ajay Devgn is also in the process of making a film on a similar project. Though, there have been no announcements regarding the same from the actor's end as for now.
