Career stuck and going nowhere? Fear not, it’s Salman Khan to the rescue! The star’s reputation as a godfather might soon outshine his innings as an actor. Take the TV serial he is producing on the life of Gama Pehalwan aka Ghulam Mohammed. Born in Amritsar into a Kashmiri family on May 22, 1878, the Great Gama, as he was dubbed, remained undefeated in a career that lasted more than 52 years. Considered one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, he moved to Pakistan post-Independence in 1947, where he lived until his death on May 23, 1960 in Lahore at the age of 82.
It’s a role most actors would love to sink their acting chops into and the lucky dude to bag this role is Salman’s own youngest brother, Sohail Khan. Charity does begin at home, after all! Sohail could also get all the wrestling tips he needs from big bro, who had wowed audiences and critics as a wrestler who fights the odds in 2016 hit, Sultan.
This will be the first TV series produced by Salman Khan, and it offers a new lease of life to another struggling actor… For the role of Gama’s brother, who was one of the most important figures in his life, the Khans have signed on star kid Mahaakshay Chakraborty who is better known by his nickname Mimoh. Older son of veteran star Mithun Chakraborty, Mahaakshay has swung into action mode already, developing his physique to pehlwan-esque proportions.
Mahaakshay, had debuted with a lead role in the 2008 film Jimmy, for which he had been nominated for a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. His Haunted - 3D did well for itself but Loot, which followed was panned. Career stuck in limbo, Salman has been something of a godfather for Mimoh, and will have his undying devotion, for sure.
