The entire television industry was in shock when popular actress Pratyusha Banerjee was found dead at her Mumbai residence on April 1, 2016. The reports claimed that she committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan. Her boyfriend, Rahul Raj Singh was the first one to find her dead. However, Pratyusha's mother pressed the charges of abetment to suicide against her boyfriend. She accused him of cheating on her, abusing her and taking money from her. After the accusation, Rahul Raj was arrested by the police and later released on bail. Two years have passed and there has been no progress in the case.

On the late actress' second death anniversary, her friends have shared a heartfelt note on social media remembering the late actress.

Kamya Punjabi shared a picture of herself along with Pratyusha and wrote,  "2yrs n no trail also as yet! Dont laugh,i m not givin up, yes ur parents r miserable but “i hav complete faith in our juridical system” aise hi bolte hai na? To hell wit dat, value ur life kyuki aapki jaan ki yaha koi keemat nahi hai, people 4get n move on N U, You better dont rest in peace
Pls dont write abt my friendship wit her pls dont write RIP here agar kuch karna hai toh itna karo dont be blind in love, dont give up on urself, fight back, stop domestic voilence... just stop stop stop!!!
