Indians have a love-hate relationship with Indian soap operas. There are quite a few who love the saas-bahu drama saga and there are some who cringe at even the title tracks. Ekta Kapoor has made a name for herself by belting out these larger-than-life family dramas. After all Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Kasautii Zindagi Kay has all become a fixture of Indian popular culture. However, it comes as a surprise when a well-known Swedish YouTuber watches these serials and then comments on it.
Swedish YouTuber ‘PewDiePe’ watched our beloved Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji daily soap Kasamh Se and took to Twitter to comment on it. Naturally, his tweet went viral and people started commenting on the fact that why is he watching these serials in the first place. Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg, known to his millions of YouTube subscribers as PewDiePie must have dug really deep on the internet to come across the serial. The video said ‘Good Quality’ but was actually terrible to view.

His comment went viral on Twitter and eventually reached Ekta too, who couldn’t take things lying down. She called out PewDiePie and compared him to the fake Europeans that our filmmakers cast in the television serials and films. For the uninitiated PewDiePie topped Forbes’ list of highest-paid YouTube stars in 2016 and has millions of YouTube subscribers and does video game commentary. Ekta must not have liked the fact that he is trying to make fun of her serial and the video quality on the internet so she tried to take him down.

It is not surprising that the Swedish YouTuber is joking about Indian soaps as many of them are cringe-worthy but it is hilarious to note that he is binge-watching daily soaps. Kasamh Se revolved around three sisters and was the launch pad of Prachi Desai. The serial starred Prachi, Ram Kapoor, Roshni Chopra and Arunima Chopra.
