Amidst the sexual harassment allegations that Tanushree Dutta has levied against Nana Patekar, a leading daily reported that the veteran actor is all set to take on a new role. The actor is on board to play India’s first RAW chief Rameshwarnath Kao in Firoz Nadiadwala’s forthcoming television production. The show is expected to go on floors in November.
The show will focus on RAW’s first mission of liberating East Pakistan and creating a separate nation, Bangladesh. The associate producer Arjun Kumar confirmed the news and told the leading daily, “A lot of our audience today is watching American shows. The only way to change the game and get them back is to produce quality content. We have been making films on a large canvas and want to do the same for TV now. Nana is the right choice for the part because like RAW he does a lot of good work quietly. It’s thanks to these secret agents that our country is safe. We are bringing a lot of other known faces on board.”
Kao served in RAW from its founding days in 1969 to 1977. He was Jawahar Lal Nehru’s personal security chief and was the security advisor to Rajiv Gandhi when he held the PM’s office. Kao held the position of secretary (Research) in the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government, a position that has been held by all RAW chiefs since then.
