In wake of the recent #MeToo movement, singer and composer Anu Malik found himself under the line of fire when singers Sona Mohapatra and Shweta Pandit accused him of sexual harassment. Although he has vehemently denied all charged leveled against him, we now hear that Anu has been asked to step down as the judge of reality show Indian Idol Season 10, which he was co-judging alongside Neha Kakkar and Vishal Dadlani.
As per recent reports, the channel has taken the allegations against Anu very seriously and after discussing the matter internally, the makers have now decided to drop him as the judge till further investigation. Apparently, he would not continue to shoot any further episodes and the makers are soon expected to make an official announcement on the same. Not to forget, Anu has been the only constant judge on Indian Idol ever since its inception in 2004.
Meanwhile, after allegations by Sona and Shweta, two other women accused Anu for sexually harassing them. While the first woman recalled an incident when the composer allegedly "rubbed his body" against her, the other woman claimed to have been approached for Indian Idol 10 as a wild card entry but stated that she refused the offer since Anu had sexually harassed her seven years ago.
However, Anu's lawyer Zulfiquar Memon denied all accusations by mentioning that India's #MeToo movement is being used for his client's "character assassination".
