Arjun Kapoor and his half-sister Janhvi Kapoor made an appearance on the sixth season of Karan Johar’s celebrity chat show Koffee With Karan and it commenced on a rather emotional note as the filmmaker addressed the difficult period that the Kapoor siblings endured the wrath of after Sridevi’s death. Arjun and Anshula are Boney Kapoor’s children from his former wife Mona Shourie; Janhvi and Khushi are the filmmaker’s daughters from his second wife Sridevi.
While speaking to Karan, Arjun said that his behaviour towards Janhvi and Khushi after their mother’s death emerged out of pure honesty.

“At the end of the day, a moment changes everything. And I’ve been through that moment and I wouldn’t wish it for my worst enemy. Whatever I did or whatever me and Anshula have done or reacted was an impulse out of pure honesty to knowing that we would have needed somebody at that time. And perhaps, we couldn’t have that at that point, as much as we liked. But that doesn’t mean that Janhvi and Khushi shouldn’t. But at that time, it stemmed purely out of being a good son to my father because that’s the first impulse,” Arjun told Karan.

Mona Shourie died in 2012 and since Arjun is aware of the “storm” that accompanies death, he ensured that he was with his sisters throughout.
“My mother would’ve wanted that. If she would’ve been alive, that’s the first thing she would’ve said is, ‘Go be there. Make sure you’re there. Don’t hold any grudges because your life is too short.’ And it took me some time to get that courage to ask Anshula that, ‘I feel this is the right thing. What do you feel?’ Because I needed her consent at the end of the day. I’m going to be able to do this only if I have her by my side,” Arjun said, adding that Anshula was more than willing to support Janhvi and Khushi at that time.
Sridevi died due to “accidental drowning” in a bathtub in her hotel room in Dubai on February 24.
