Koffee With Karan 6: Ayushmann reveals his granny slapped him after he told her about his dream of becoming an actor

Ayushmann Khurrana has been entertaining fans with his films such as Vicky Donor and Badhaai Ho but did you know that he was shy enough to admit as a child that he aspired to become an actor? On the sixth season of Karan Johar’s celebrity chat show Koffee With Karan, Ayushmann made an appearance with Vicky Kaushal and spoke about his “fruitful” journey in the entertainment industry.

Before venturing into films, Ayushmann did theatre and participated in reality shows and subsequently appeared as a host on them as well. However, he dreamed of becoming an actor from a very young age but after confessing his aspirations to his grandmother…no, no, no. Hear him out. We won’t tell you.

“In 1989, when I was like five or something, I saw my dadi mimicking Dev sahab and Dilip Kumar. And I wanted to be like her. So, I told my dadi that I want to become an actor and she slapped me. She was not really happy that I wanted to be an actor. So I never told anybody that I wanted to be an actor,” Ayushmann said.

In fact, Ayushmann was of the opinion that he was a nerd of sorts as a child because of which he was conscious enough to speak about his ambition.

“I was very conscious about it and I was not that conventional looker. As a kid, I was very skinny and had braces. I was a nerd. Nobody believed I could be an actor. So, I formed two theatre groups in Chandigarh and did radio, television. I am glad I took these baby steps towards whatever has happened today. The journey has been really fruitful,” Ayushmann added.

Ayushmann Khurrana was last seen in Badhaai Ho.
