Actor Iqbal Khan, best known for his role in the television series Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai, is making his debut in the Marathi film industry with Mumbai Apli Ahe. During his conversation with a leading daily, Iqbal said that didn't intend to sign the Marathi film and wasn't interested in attending the script narration session as well but did so only on Raqesh Bapat's intervention.
However, after he heard the script of the film, Iqbal just found it difficult to refuse the film. “Honestly, I can’t speak the language, and I am very particular about every aspect of a film. Raqesh (Bapat, actor) called me and requested that I at least hear the director (Bharat Sunanda). Surprisingly, when I heard the narration, I couldn’t say no,” Iqbal told the daily.

While speaking to the daily, Iqbal narrated his story and said that he moved to Mumbai 18 years ago and underwent several issues including financial troubles and difficulty in finding work.
“Once you go through financial troubles and struggle for work, you have a lot of respect for money. When I did television, saas-bahu was ruling the roost, my show Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai broke that monotony. Lot of people told me that it won’t work. And, when it did work, I started to believe in my instincts," Iqbal added.
