Koffee With Karan 6: Deepika, Ranveer, Bhansali never became a part of my friend circle, says Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor addressed reports of his obscure relationship with his Padmaavat co-stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, on the sixth season of filmmaker Karan Johar's celebrity chat show Koffee With Karan. Padmaavat - Bhansali's ambitious film - cast Deepika, Shahid and Ranveer in the principle roles while ahead of the release of the film in 2018, several quarters reported that Shahid's equation with his co-stars and director wasn't quite pleasant.

Speaking of reports, Shahid said that Deepika, Ranveer and Bhansali never became a part of his friend circle because he shares a professional relationship with them, adding that he has stopped socialising after his marriage.

"I am not in touch with most people from the industry. Honestly, Deepika, Ranveer and Sanjay Sir never became a part of my friend circle as such. It was more of a professional thing. It's not as if the status was different and it has changed in any manner. It has pretty much been the way it was through the time we were working," Shahid said on KWK 6.

Furthermore, Shahid also added that filming Padmaavat wasn't really a "smooth ride" but he is glad that he did the film.

"It's a really big film and the stakes were very high for everybody. So, everybody wanted to have their A-game on. And everybody was doing everything it takes to be kind of everything, it takes to be at the centre of the limelight. I am sure everybody felt a bit threatened by each other at some level. It's natural. I had a great time doing the film. Of course, there are several small things which happened. It's a multi-star cast film and I wouldn't say it was a smooth ride and we were all throwing love at each other. But looking back, I think it's an amazing film in my filmography and I feel it's great that I did it," Shahid added.
