Popular television actors – Nakuul Mehta, Hina Khan, Apara Mehta, Eisha Singh Ssharad Malhotra and Rubina Dilaik recently graced the conclave organised by one of the news channels wherein they talked about the importance and power of the Indian Television industry. While Hina Khan revealed how people warned her about being type casted during her Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai days; Nakuul said that he did not celebrate the power of TV.
While speaking Nakuul said, "I started my television career seven years ago but back then I did not understand the power of television. However, a journey from Goa to Mumbai changed my perception about acting and medium forever. I started my career with a film which was promoted with a bang but lost the steam by the time it released. For a month, no one called me. But, when I was in Goa, suddenly a lot of people came up to me and said, ‘hey, you are the same person from the movies.’ They told me that they have seen the movie on TV and it is on that journey from Goa to Mumbai that I realised that more people have watched the movie on TV than in theatres; I realised that I was under a delusion that if I had to become an actor, it has to be on a particular medium. Never thought, I had to become a very good actor irrespective of its medium, that, the medium is not important."

Adding more to this conversation, Nakuul also shared a moment when he realised that the characters and the story they are a part of are much more important and far bigger than anything else. He said that during the promotions of his last show Pyar Ka Dard Hai in London, a lady walked up to him and hugged him whilst crying.
"That’s when I realised that what we do in studios is not just for us. Of course, it makes us happy, the magical feeling between action and cut is thrilling, we get a decent pay for it, but above that the impression that we leave on people is more important," he stated.

Shedding the light on the responsibility as an actor, the actor said, "I think all of us who are present here, especially the younger lot, it is our responsibility to make sure that TV gets the respect, the professionalism and ethics, because if we don’t take the onus, it will continue to be the second cousin to Bollywood."
Nakuul is currently seen playing the lead in serial Ishqbaaz.
