Popular television series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is getting a spin-off with Shaheer Sheikh in the lead role, a leading website reports. The yet-untitled show is expected to go on floors soon while Rhea Sharma, in all probability, will star opposite Shaheer in the show.
Producer Rajan Shahi, meanwhile, confirmed the news of the spin-off to the website and said, “There are many characters in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, whose stories need to be told in 2019, in a new setting. And this is why we decided on making a spin-off.”

As far as Shaheer starring in the lead role is concerned, Rajan said that he is discussing the script with the actor. “Yes, we are in talks with him. But at the moment, the priority is the scripting of the show.”
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai premiered in 2009 and is one of the longest-running television shows. The series aired with Hina Khan and Karan Mehra in the lead roles. After several leaps, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai currently features Naira and Karthik’s story played by Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan, respectively.

Shaheer Sheikh was last in the historical drama Dastaan-E-Mohabbat that was pulled off-air owing to low TRP ratings. Rhea Sharma has appeared in the television shows Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar and Tu Sooraj, Main Saanjh Piyaji.
