Mouni Roy began her career in the entertainment industry with television shows such as Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and Naagin before venturing into films. While she enjoyed working on serials, Mouni, while speaking to a leading daily, said that at this point of time, she cannot allot dates to television serials because of her prior commitment to films.
Naagin, produced by Ekta Kapoor, cast Mouni in the lead role of a shape-shifting snake woman. She appeared in the series but had to opt out of it later owing to her Bollywood debut Gold. “Naagin has become a brand. Our naagmani is Ekta Kapoor. Till the time she is around, the show will keep running,” Mouni told the daily.
Following her debut in Gold opposite Akshay Kumar, Mouni will appear in Brahmastra, RAW and Made In China. “I miss being a part of the show. It is as much my baby as much as it is Ekta ma'am's. But at this stage in my career, it's difficult to allot eight to nine months (to a show). If I have to do that, I'll have to bid goodbye to films, and that is something I don't want to compromise on,” Mouni added.
Mouni received positive reviews for her performance in Gold and is currently gearing up for the release of RAW, co-starring John Abraham.
Directed by Robbie Grewal, RAW is scheduled to release on April 5.
