When I'm angry, I abuse, I am not a saint: Kapil Sharma on using foul language on Twitter

It is rightly said that words have great powers and they should be carefully used because they can cause a lot of damage and hurt. Ace comedian Kapil Sharma learned this the hard way when he abused a journalist on social media and lost a lot of his ardent fans. On Arbaaz Khan’s chat show Pinch, Kapil opened up about his Twitter spat with the journalist and admitted that the language he used on social media at that time was incorrect. The comedian-actor confessed that he was suffering from depression, drinking a lot and was not in his senses at that time which led to the tweets.

Talking about the incident he said, “I agree that the language used was incorrect. I was not in my senses. That was the period when I was suffering from depression and was drinking a lot. When people are not in their senses they say such things. I targeted this guy because in 6 months, he wrote some 160 articles on things that were not true."

Giving clarifications about his behaviour, Kapil said, “The format of my show is such that I cannot be late and I have to arrive 3-4 hours prior to the shooting. Yes, some shoots were cancelled, but I never made celebrities wait. There was this pent up anger that got released like this. When I'm angry, I abuse. Maybe in future also, if a similar thing happens, I might abuse. I am not a saint.”

Arbaaz’s show deals with celebrities facing their online trolls and how they react to them. Kapil took a break from television for almost a year in which he underwent treatment for his depression and drinking. He is back on the small screen with a bang with the second season of his popular show The Kapil Sharma Show.
