Sumit Saini was declared as the winner of The Voice Season 3 winner in the grand finale held Saturday. Sumit raced ahead of Simran Choudhary, Hargun Kaur and Adnan Ahmad to claim the coveted award and walked away proudly with a prize amount of Rs. 25 lakhs.
Sumit, a resident of Haryana, hails from a family of farmers and kickstarted his singing career at the age of three by performing jagraans. Sumit, on the show, was the first contestant to receive a 'jai ho' which stands for a compliment from the Super Guru-A R Rahman. Sumit secured a spot in singer cum judge on the show Harshdeep Kaur's team and went through a professional training under her guidance before winning the coveted trophy.
Talking about the third season of the popular singing reality show, The Voice Season 3 aired its first episode on February 3 on Star Plus with Bollywood singers Armaan Malik, Adnan Sami, Kanika Kapoor and Harshdeep Kaur as judges. Ace music composer and singer A R Rahman presided over the seat of the Super Guru. Telly actress Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya acted as the host, who was later joined by actor Karan Wahi. However, owing to poor health, Rahman couldn't make it to the finale episode and was replaced by Asha Bhosle as a guest judge.
