Dilip Joshi reminisces Disha Vakani aka Dayaben as Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah completes 11 years, feels she is still with the team

One of the longest-running sitcoms on the Indian television industry, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has successfully completed 11 years on June 28, 2019. The team celebrated the occasion with cake cutting ceremony on the set wherein the entire star cast remembered the old good days and spoke about their long journey.

On this occasion, Dilip Joshi who plays the role of Jethalal opened up about Disha Vakani and spoke about how he misses her in the show. “I am missing Disha Vakani a lot today. I have worked with her for almost 9 and a half years and it is not a short period. I feel she is still with us, it just that her priorities have changed now. She is a mother now and her priorities have obviously changed and today on this occasion we all are missing her,” the 51-year-old told during an interview with a leading daily.

For the uninitiated, Disha, who played the role of Dayaben in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah made an exit from the show in 2017 for a six month to one-year maternity leave but till date hasn't returned to the show, making her fans restless to see her on-screen. A few reports suggested that Disha demanded a hike in fees to return back to the show considering her daughter is too young. However, nothing official has been announced on the same yet. It was also reported that the character of Dayaben will return to the show post the completion of ICC World Cup 2019 on July 14, 2019, but alas, this speculation failed to be correct.
